bike pedals?

Jun 24, 2008 by itsmeharlee | Posted in Cycling

just got a new road bike. im new to road bikes and i need pedals... thinking maybe a pair for serious riding and maybe another pair for fun rides (no shoes). any recommendations?

also with the pedals what shoes coordinate? how do you know

If you want to take a serious approach look for "clipless" pedals and shoes. They improve pedaling efficiency markedly.

There are multiple brands but basically they come down to road vs off road. If you want to walk in the shoes

What are the advantages of having clipless pedals on a bike?

Mar 27, 2007 by curiousgeorge | Posted in Cycling

I've been riding mountain bikes for awhile and I was wondering if clipless pedals made a big difference. Are they really worth buying or is it better to just stick with regular bike pedals.

Different people take to clipless pedals to varying degrees, and some people just hate them. You'll want to give yourself some time to get used to them, and expect to fall a couple of times. It happens. But if you still hate them don't sweat it.

What is a good cheap, durable brand of bike pedals?

Feb 07, 3444 by THE BIG BUDDY | Posted in Cycling

I own a Brittany Free Spirit 3 Speed and the pedals on the bike broke on me. I want to get better bike pedals but I don't know anything on bike pedals. Also I don't know if all Bike Pedals are universal. So I just want to know about Bike Pedals.

the thread size on the crank arm will probably be one of two sizes 9/16" or 1/2" hard to say until you take one off and measure it. Here is a basic pedal that you can use to replace them: http://www.performancebike.com/shop/prof ile.cfm?SKU=2276&subcategory_ID=1004

Bike Pedals?

Apr 02, 2008 by Evan | Posted in Cycling

I looking at buying clipless pedals but don't know what I should get. I don't really care about weight as much as stiffness and power transfer. I've looked at shimano, keo and time and was wonder which ones the best?

Go online and check out the new edition of Bicycling Magazine they have an article on the basics of cycling gear. They recommend to save your money and buy cheap pedals since basically they are all the same IE go to performance bike or Nashbar and buy

Davis Phinney fights Parkinson's one victory at a time

09.06.11

"They're having a really good conversation," Phinney told us recently. "Or eliciting a really nice smile from someone. Or having a great cup of coffee. Or a tasty dessert. Or a really nice glass of wine. Or eating sushi with chopsticks."

The 51-year-old Phinney's priorities changed 11 years ago when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

His winning attitude and outlook on life, however, stayed the same.

"I don't really look back and say, ‘Gee, I really wish I hadn't gotten this disease because I could be doing this, that or the other thing.' That's not my way," said Phinney, whose book, "The Happiness of Pursuit," went on sale last week. "I enjoy my life because with what's been given, I definitely make the most out of it. I enjoy being with the Parkinson's community; I enjoy lending my voice and hope that it helps my cause and others."

Co-authored by Sports Illustrated senior writer Austin Murphy, the book pedals through Phinney's childhood, his cycling career -- in which he tallied more than 300 victories, including two Tour de France stages -- and his battle with Parkinson's. The memoir also outlines the path Phinney's son Taylor has taken on the bike, from climbing the hills around the family's homes in Colorado and Italy to his days on the wooden velodrome track. Now 20, Taylor rides for BMC Racing Team -- carrying on the "family business," in his father's words.

Recall The Joys Of Cycling On The Stamina 1300 Upright Cycle

by editor

If you were happy enough to get pleasure from riding a bike in your childhood, you’ll remember how blissful & carefree it felt to pedal all over the place. The streets might have been safer and less crowded then. There aren’t too many places where you can journey carefully & feel lighthearted all over again. Whether your work keeps you at home, in the place of work, or out on the street, it may take up much of your time & leave you with minimal extra time to spend anyplace else. All the more reason you have to relax.

Biking is 1 of the greatest ways to de-stress & calm at any age. It offers you a brilliant cardio exercise and strengthens your lower limbs. Outdoor biking on a country road, in a park, or inside the suburbs bounded by striking scenery is a benefical pastime. The difficulty is that you do not have any control over the conditions. It was for those reasons that indoor bikes were developed for recreation and exercise workout.

The Stamina 1300 Upright Workout bike looks & features a lot like the bicycle you used to ride, with 2 major differences. The primary difference is that it’s stationary, so it is fantastic for indoors. Since it stays put, you don’t need a big garage or backyard in which to go around. You would be able to just keep it in one spot, but it is also light enough to transmit to an additional position if necessary. You can keep it in your bedroom if you think like hopping onto it as quickly as you get out of bed. A benefical place would be near the window so you can look out to a fantastic view. You can even keep it in your living room or recreation area so that you can watch your favorite movie or Television programs as you pedal away.
