Road bike and carbon fork upgrade?

Feb 07, 372 by Mac | Posted in Cycling

So my starter road bike is a Trek 1000 (manufactured in 2000). I just graduated college so I can't really afford to buy a new bike at the moment but am interested in possibly doing a carbon fork upgrade. I would like advice on sizing and whether or not

The bike has a quill type stem and a threaded fork, so it is probably 1". Carbon forks in this size are getting hard to find, and since you don't give the frame size, it is difficult to determine steerer length. You would probably need to change

Need to find out if this is a good road bike or just a fony.....?

Sep 30, 2009 by Bijan A | Posted in Cycling

There is a bike that I saw on sale called a Tommaso. My dad said to find out if it was a real bike or just a fony. I wanted to know if the bike is a real deal, and they won't ship a piece of junk to my house......Please, any answer are accepted!!!! Thanks

Fine bikes at a good price. No worries.

Would these carbon forks fit my Road bike?

Oct 10, 2008 by kal | Posted in Cycling

ITM 'Visia' Carbon Forks
Ok for up to 700x28c Tyres : If mudguards are to be fitted then approx 700x25c tyre.
Weigh in at a approx 580 grams!!.
Alloy Steerer in 1-1/8" :ok for both non-intergrated and intergrated headset systems.

As long as you have 1 1/8 steerer now it'll work. I'm sure it'll fit 25 and very likely 28 tires. I looked at the fork on-line and it has tabs for a mud guard so I assume they made clearance for one.

One thing is at 580 it's a heavy carbon

Are these a good set of road bike wheels?

Dec 26, 2008 by Richard Head | Posted in Cycling

I already have a good frame which is my friends old one but the wheels
and forks are useless. So i want to buy new forks wheels and i was wondering these would do:

You don't mention if the fork is the type you need (I assume you know this). If it fits, it's a very good fork. Be certain you need a 1 1/8 steerer and 230mm is long enough for your bike.

I'm not familiar with the wheels. I've seen these

Argon 18 is a Canadian brand and the Krypton is one of four road bikes in the range, a carbon monocoque that has been updated for 2011 with a new grade of carbon and, it’s claimed, an improved performance.

The thing that strikes you first about the Krypton is the size of the tubes; some of them are massive. The down tube, for example, which has a trapezium-shaped profile, measures 54mm across at the top end and then extends out further to reach across the complete width of the bottom bracket.

The head tube is a meaty affair too, coming in Argon 18’s 3D design that allows you to adjust the front-end height of the bike while retaining stiffness. It’s an interesting concept. Usually, you adjust handlebar height by altering the number or size of spacers between the upper bearing and the stem (or by flipping the stem over or swapping to a different one).

I originally bought this bike for a sprint triathlon I'm competing in at the end of July...Looking for a less expensive bike to get started in case I don't keep up with triathlons in the future...However, after training on this bike, I'm really starting to enjoy it! Some advice: Take it to a bike shop and have them put it together for you..This w...

I bought this bike to upgrade from my GMC Denali Road Bike(30lbs) that I had previously bought on amazon. My goal was to get a lighter bike to go faster. I had done 2 previouse triathlons with the Denali and also wanted to improve my time. Plus, I was tired of people making fun of me with the Denali. Review by T. Lewis (USA) 2009-11-18
