crankset and bottom bracket compability?

Mar 08, 2010 by SPARTA!!! | Posted in Cycling

i have a bike with 52/42/30T crank-set and VP118 mm bottom bracket, and i would like to get a carbon crankset but im not sure what size i need or are compatible with the one i have on my bike. the current one also has 3 chain-rings and i would like to

If you are thinking about buying a carbon crankset, there will probably be only one choice that will work with your new crank. Your old one will not work with it if you are thinking about changing from 3 to 2 chainrings. Most carbon cranksets are a 2

Cycling; Looking for consumer feedback?

Does anyone have a report on the Stronglight Carbon Fiber Crankset?

Cool looks and realible working every time but high cost and little more weight this is 880g and nowdays I think this crank is heavy in comparison to other high-cost crankset.

I like all the Carbon Crank sets, the only one I'm not sure

How much do you think this bike worth?

May 13, 2009 by yuen m | Posted in Cycling

Recently my friend has rebuild a totally new 2008 Scott s60 flat bar road bike into following specification. It has become a drop bar road bike and he is selling it for $1200, do you guys think it worth the price? Is this spec looks good?

It's not badly priced, but I reckon you could get a similar spec to that for the same money for a new bike.
The most important thing is the fit though as even if you buy a $10000 bike it's no good to you if it's the wrong size.

help with kind of cranksets.?

Feb 23, 2010 by Alberto F | Posted in Cycling

wat are some cons and pros about the bb30 crankset on the cannondale carbon six 5 and the tarmac elite wats the difference between these two cranksets.

The crankset isn't BB30, the bottom bracket is.

BB30 is basically a bearing pressed into the bottom bracket. The crank spindle is then pushed through the bearings and held against lateral motion by E-rings.

The plus side

9 speed vs. 10 speed??? Thoughts?

Aug 06, 2008 by broke non profit worker... | Posted in Cycling

I'm upgrading an old 1992 Cannondale R600 roadbike from a 7speed drivetrain and can't decide if I should go to a 9 speed or 10 speed set-up. I think the 10 speed set-up would force me to replace the crankset whereas I could keep the stock crankset with

YIPES! I would reconsider this move. Let's forget about the compatibility of parts for the moment.

Going from a 7 speed to 8/9/10 requires resetting the rear spacing and realigning the dropouts. This is next to impossible with Cannondale-

Cannondale CAAD 10 Dura Ace reviewed

Cutting edge aluminium

Aluminium can still cut it at the sharp end of road cycling. That's the first conclusion to be reached after spending time with the latest-generation aluminium road frame from Cannondale, the CAAD 10 . Not that many Liquigas pros are going to be racing on it any time soon, but for those of us not blessed with a ready supply of SuperSix EVOs or similar pro-level racing tackle it's a genuine alternative to the carbon-composites competition.

The second conclusion, albeit one that many cyclists won't reach, ever, is that there is an obvious answer to a question recently posed by Alistair Brooks on the RCUK forum ; "Could they [Cannondale] genuinely not have made a better frame if they had not had another 200g of carbon to play with?" The question concerned the firm's recently-unveiled SuperSix EVO but is every bit as applicable to the CAAD 10.

Why won't many cyclists reach it? Not all of us will be troubled by the one flaw in the CAAD 10's design. Fact is, the top tube is seriously wide, which means that some riders will find their knees or inner thighs brushing it as they pedal. The contact does not have to be firm; even a light touch can be irritating and, as I discovered several years ago during a 24 hour time trial , has the potential to cause knee problems on a very long ride.

ride on purpose: Look 585

by rideonpurpose

Been sick the last few days- ended up resting entirely since last Thursday's WTR race. Woke up this morning feeling well enough that I knew I'd be able to go on the group ride today if I took it a bit easy and be able to race WTR tomorrow. Figured I wasn't necessarily 100%, but that is was definitely time to get out on the new bike. Tonight's group ride was about a 45 mile loop. The bike felt good from the beginning- the lack of weight was noticeable on even the slightest hill and it felt extremely responsive to any input both handling and acceleration (and without any harshness in the ride quality). I eased into things for the first 30 miles or so and worked my turns at the front, tried to get used to the handling and fit of the new bike etc.. There was going to be a town line sprint at mile 30 though and in the back of my mind I was hoping it would be contested (they aren't always contested due to individuals position in the paceline and car traffic etc.). I was sitting in the...
