making a dog basket for my bike?

I have a 25 lb dog. All the dog bike baskets I've seen only hold up to 15 lbs. So I got the idea from someone else to make my dog's own basket using a milk crate and soft cushion. My question is, what is the best way to secure it to my bike? Thank you.
At 25 pounds, the dog carrier should be on the back of the bike. That's too much on the front for safe steering control.
You probably are best off purchasing a rear carrier that is supported at three points .. two supports on the bottom,

I want a basket for my bike to carry stuff in as well as my lil' dog on occasion. Did anyone here ever have a specific dog one or did you just use a normal front basket?? Also what (UK) make do you like the best.

I've looked into front mount wire baskets on a bunch of different sites but none of the descriptions tell how much weight it will hold!! Any suggestions for a front mount basket that will hold 20lbs?
If you're set on a basket, look for the kind that newspaper boys used to use. But remember - 20 pounds of moving, unstable weight on your handlebars can cause a serious wreck. The safest way is to get one of those bicycle trailers parents use to tow
