You Ask They Answer

can i put disc brakes on a 2007 gt agressor mountain bike?

Feb 03, 2010 by George | Posted in Cycling

I'm not sure if i need an adaptor to instal the rear disc brake or if it's just not possible to have rear disc brakes on that specific frame.

This question is asked all the time. The answer is always the same, it will probably cost more than the bike is worth. First, your hubs are probably not disc compatible, so you will need new wheels. Once you change the wheels, you have to buy the brake

Will a road fork work with a late 80s GT outpost frame? Or would I need a Mountain fork.?

Feb 07, 4213 by Skankingwonder | Posted in Cycling

I figure that road forks are generally going to be skinny and I'll need a rigid mountain bike fork for my bike, but what the heck, why not ask?

The specs, especially the size has the possibility of the exact dimensions but the headset of your bike MAY NOT agree with your bike's road fork. Drop the idea chap---go to EBAY.com ( Category\Sporting goods\Outdoor Sports-CYCLING- Mountain bike PARTS

Is it safe to use a 2500 psi power washer to clean a mountain bike?

May 21, 2007 by Student | Posted in Cycling

Hi I have a Gt Bike that is 17 years old. It has a few paint chips but the frame is in good shape. I just want to give it a little clean up because sand is stuck between the wheel axle, and frame. Do you think that a power washer would make it look brand

A power washer isn't going to make it shiny and new, but it will get rid of the dirt, along with more of the paint than is already chipped. If you really want to clean it, use a soft bristle brush, lots of soapy hot water, and a regular garden hose. Use

Mountain bike help needed please?

Feb 07, 2829 by Rover | Posted in Cycling

Hi! I have just started a new job at a local office, and I ride my ancient road bike there and back every day. I have wanted to get into mountain biking for ages but never had the money.

Chained to the bike rack at work is a mountain bike

I have rescued many bikes found in ditches, out of dumpsters, and other places people throw bikes. I have made really decent bikes out of them. Even ones that are not as nice as the one you've found (fav was a Lespo Roadstar).

Which is the Better Mountain Bike? Please Answer :)?

Question is in the title, pretty simple. It's going to be my first good MTB.

GT Sensor 4.0 review

18.05.11

The 4.0 is the cheapest of GT's four-bike Sensor line-up. It shares a frame with the £2,699 Sensor 1.0, so it’s not surprising that a few component compromises have had to be made to get it in under £1,000.

The Sensor is a lesson in how spec listings, geometry tables and weights don’t tell the whole story. If you were choosing a bike from catalogues you could easily discount the GT, but it’s a great deal more entertaining than you might expect.

Ride & handling: Trail-munching suspension and rewarding handling deliver a fun ride

On paper the GT doesn’t look like it has much going for it. At 32.4lb (14.7kg) it’s heavier than a lot of its price rivals, largely thanks to a component selection in which every part is a notch or two down from the best of the competition.

Transmission is Shimano Alivio throughout, without even a Shadow mech to draw attention, brakes are Tektro Dracos, there’s an FSA square-taper crank and lots of GT-branded bits. But you quickly forget all that out on the trail.

GT Mountain Bike Frames

GT Bicycles has been in the market for a long time now and their bikes have been tested by time.  The company was established by Gary Turner who was a welding engineer and by Richard Long who once owned a small a bicycle shop. The company made its mark in the industry when they started manufacturing BMX bicycles. And because of the quality of the products they provided, they became the largest manufacturer not only of BMX bikes, but also of leisure and of mountain bikes as well.

The main reason why Turner had created such good frame design is because of his son. His son participated in the emerging sport of BMX in the early 70’s and he noticed that the bikes used by the riders lacked robustness in that they broke fairly easily. Not to mention that they were also quite heavy too. This is why Turner started to develop the tubing in the design of BMX bikes. His design became so popular in Southern California that he became in demand and he eventually started to produce frames for other racers as well.

BikeRadar.com - Jan 01, 1970
