How do you mesaure a mountain bike fork with suspension?

Aug 09, 2007 by Momo | Posted in Cycling

If i want to upgrade my fork on a mountain bike, i would have to know the measure. ometimes i hear 5", or 6", but what is that? is that the whole fork or is that just the part that comes out of the tube. Sometimes its silver metal, coil or covered

5" or 6" is the travel of the fork. That means the distance that the stanchions (the silver tubes) that can move inside the lowers. The longer the travel the plusher it should be. Freeride forks usually go from 6" to 8".

selling a mountain bike fork on ebay. how much will it be for a label for a 5-6 pound box?

May 11, 2010 by Stephen | Posted in Cycling

I am selling a mountain bike fork on Ebay but I couldn't understand the shipping costs. I set the shipping price as 4.25, and selected Standard Flat Rate Shipping. The fork weighs about 5-6 lbs. do I find a box and then just print the labels off and put

You may want to rethink your shipping costs. The $4.25 Flat Rate is for a SMALL Priority Mail box, which is pretty tiny and will NOT hold your mountain bike fork, I'm sure.

This is the size of the SMALL box:
5-3/8” x 8-5/8”

Can You Put a Fox Mountain Bike Fork or a Marzocchi Fork On a Bmx Bike?

Apr 15, 2010 by Spec | Posted in Cycling

I have a 2009 Fit PRK1 BMX bike and I was wondering if I could put a mountain bike fork on it ?

Its a bad idea. Most likely your headtube will snap. Im fairly sure it has a 1 inch headtube anyways, fox and marzo both only use 1 1/8 and 1.5 steertubes.

What's the best mountain bike fork?

Jun 02, 2009 by conor1423 | Posted in Cycling

I race mountain bikes and have a really light dual suspension bike. But i need a new front fork. In your opinion, what's the best mountain bike fork? I'm thinking the 2010 Fox 32 F-SERIES FIT RLC.

I think that Fox is a great option. If you want to improve that, take it to Push industries and they'll make it even better.

Another option is Rock Shock Sid or Reba, which are also pretty good and

What mountain bike fork should i get?

Jan 06, 2010 by Rag00doll | Posted in Cycling

I have an 09 trek 6000 and am making an upgrade. The dart 3 fork was adequate for its first season but now it's time to upgrade. I am wondering if i should buy the 2009 rockshox reba race, or 2009 rockshox sid race. I am 6 foot 1" and weigh 170 pounds.

The sid is one of the best rated forks in xc and like some of the previous answers it's very sturdy and can be controlled easily, and if your mostly doing xc i highly recommend it however depending on what other riding your doing e.g general commuting,

Warm weather's arrival brings Sierra meltdown concerns

07.02.08

Records show the snow has piled up in the Sierra further into the spring than any other time over the past 65 years.

Now it’s time for the meltdown.

Just how fast the snowpack lingering long in the mountains will melt is a question on many people’s minds – from whitewater rafters to flood prone lowlanders to the water providers that are trying to balance storage needs with the potential for a warm-up that could spike river flows.

Randall Osterhuber, researcher at the Sierra Snow Lab, said that there was more snow on the ground Wednesday at Donner Summit than the location had ever had before. The snow lab, run by UC Berkeley, has records dating back to 1946.

Wednesday morning’s measurement showed a 91-inch snowpack depth at 6,900 feet. But that was already dropping as warmer temperatures moved into the region after weeks of cold, snowy weather. Osterhuber said the snowpack depth had lost 5 inches in the previous two days.

Normally the snow would have been long gone. May 23 is the average date for the last traces of the white stuff to disappear.
